About Laramie Education

The Laramie community provides a variety of education options for parents, from daycare and preschool to secondary education. University students with children often seek education options for their children as well. The University of Wyoming Lab School, conveniently located on the UW campus, is a convenient option for students with children. However there is a running wait list, which may compel UW students to pursue other options. The contact information for the options for preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school, listed below show the variety of schools Laramie has to offer for younger children. Local preschools have enrollment applications for children. Some pre- schools offer half-day sessions, while others offer all-day preschool or child- care. All preschools and child care options in Laramie come with a cost that varies based on whether or not a child attends a half-day or full-day of preschool or child care. Laramie also has several elementary schools, including three schools with kindergarten through 6th or 9th grade. Other options exist including two charter schools, the Laramie Montessori School and the Snowy Range Academy, both of which provide free admission with some stipulations. The Laramie community has one middle school and one high school, limiting options as children become older. Some of the schools, applications or enrollment processes may look different than that of a typical public school. Laramie Montessori School and Snowy Range Academy both use a lottery system for students to enroll. With these processes in mind, application to one of these schools may need to happen earlier than for a public school. Laramie provides many options for preschool and primary education, of which UW students with children should take advantage. Students who plan to stay in Laramie long-term may even consider schools that employ a lottery application processes. Information about the lottery application process can be solicited from the schools. Laramie’s Albany Country School District One. The school has information available online at the URL located below. Information about each school, upcoming events, and enrollment can be found on the website http://www.acsd1.org/
